Common Abuses in the Dairy Industry.

Confinement and overcrowded living conditions, separation from calves, abusive milking practices, use of hormones and antibiotics.

Common Abuses in the Dairy Industry.

Confinement and living conditions.

Mother cows are frequently kept in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, where they have limited space to move and express natural behaviors.

Many mother cows are confined to small pens or stalls known as "tie stalls," restricting their movement for long periods.

Separation from calves.

After giving birth, mother cows are separated from their babies within hours. This practice is distressing for both mother and calf, leading to emotional trauma.

Male calves are immediately killed at birth or confined and isolated in small crates for veal, and horrifically slaughtered.

Female calves are confined and isolated in small crates where they continually cry for their mothers.

Milking practices.

The milking process is harsh, with cows subjected to frequent and painful milking sessions.

Over-milking leads to health problems such as mastitis, a painful infection of the udder.

Use of hormones and antibiotics.

Many mother cows are treated with hormones to increase milk production, which lead to health issues and further reduce their quality of life.

Antibiotics are used to manage infections caused by the poor living conditions, which raises concerns about drug resistance and food safety.

Common Abuses in the Beef Industry.

Inhumane handling and transport, confinement and beef lots, cruel slaughter practices, breeding practices.

Common Abuses in the Beef Industry.

Inhumane handling and transport.

Cows are frequently subjected to rough handling during transport, leading to injuries and stress.

Long-distance transport without adequate food, water, or rest is common, further compromising their welfare.

Confinement and beef lots.

-Many cows are raised in feedlots, where they are confined in cramped conditions and fed a diet high in grains to promote quick weight gain.

These environments can lead to health issues such as respiratory diseases and foot problems.

Slaughter practice.

Slaughter methods are inhumane, with animals experiencing fear and stress before death.

Reports of improper stunning techniques result in animals being conscious during the slaughter process, causing extreme suffering.

Breeding practices.

The beef industry often relies on selective breeding for traits that maximize profit, such as rapid growth rates. This leads to genetic health problems and reduced welfare for the animals.
